Jasper Swann has 35 years’ experience in conserving heritage buildings, monuments and facades in all states and territories across Australia. His extensive hands-on experience working with stone provides him with unparalleled insight into the practical and technical challenges of stone conservation in particular. Each project is approached with precision, care, and a deep respect for both the history of the building and the objectives of the owner.

Career

Jasper Swann embarked on his career in England in the late 1980s, training and practicing as a stonemason. Over the years, he worked on a broad range of stone buildings dating from the 11th to the 20th century, honing his expertise in the restoration and conservation of heritage structures. In 1991, he moved to Australia and founded Jasper Swann Stonemasonry Pty Ltd, a company recognized for its proficiency in the conservation and restoration of heritage buildings. During its 20 years of operation, the company successfully completed numerous projects across Australia, deepening Jasper's understanding of the practical and technical challenges inherent to stone conservation. Since 2010, Jasper Swann has worked solely as a consultant, providing his clients with independent advice that draws upon his extensive practical experience and his deep understanding of the principles of heritage conservation.

  • City & Guilds London Institute Craft Certificate in Stonemasonry
  • Diploma in Lettercutting & Carving
  • Masters Degree in Heritage Conservation
Jasper Swann is a former member of the NSW Heritage Council’s Technical Advisory Group and former guest lecturer in the conservation of stonework in the Masters of Heritage Conservation Program at the University of Sydney. For many years he was a contributor to the industry magazine, Discovering Stone. He is a registered consultant on the NSW Built Heritage Conservation Consultants Scheme.
